Our Lady's Island - Pilgrimage Season 2012

The 2012 Pilgrimage Season is listed below.  The 2013 Pilgrimage Season schedule will issue in May 2013.

Out of Season Pilgrimages:

Saturday, May 19th - Dungarvan Group.  Mass at 11 am.

Monday, May 21st - Presentation School, Kilkenny.  Mass at 11 am.

Saturday, May 26th - Notre Dame Choir, South Bend, Indiana, USA.  Mass at 3 pm.

Sunday, May 27th - CORI.  Mass at 3 pm.

Thursday, June 21st - Briitish Columbia Tour.  Mass time to be confirmed.

Saturday, June 30th - Catholic Grandparents Association.  Mass at 3 pm.

Sunday July 22nd - (i) St Joseph's Young Priests Society.  Mass at 3 pm.  (ii) Secular Order of Franciscans.  Mass at 6 pm.

Friday, August 3rd - Courtyard Concert, The Three Priests, 8 pm.

Wednesday, August 15th - Opening of Pilgrimage.  Mass at 3 pm followed by Procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Thursday, August 16th - Knighs of St Columbanus.

Saturday, August 18th - Gathering of Families of the Missing.  Mass at 3 pm.

Sunday, August 19th - (i) St Xavier's Parish Ballybeg, Waterford.  Mass at 12 noon.  (ii) Anointing of the Sick.  Mass at 3 pm.

Monday, August 20th - (i) Ramsgrange Parish. Mass at 3 pm.  (ii) Castlebridge Parish.  Mass at 8 pm.

Tuesday, August 21st - Ferns Lourdes Hospitality and Wexford Nurses.  Mass at 8 pm.

Wednesday, August 22nd - "Come Aside and Rest Awhile".  Mass at 8 pm.

Thursday, August 23rd - (i) Cushinstown Parish.  mass at 3 pm.  (ii) Legion of Mary, Ferns.  Mass at 8 pm.

Friday, August 24th - Monamolin Parish, Mass at 8 pm.

Saturday, August 25th - Youth Group.  Mass at 6 pm.

Sunday, August 26th - Pioneer Pilgrimage.  Mass at 3 pm.

Monday, August 27th - St Vincent de Paul, Wexford.  Mass at 8 pm.

Wednesday, August 29th - "A Time to Heal".  Mass at 8 pm.

Thursday, August 30th - (i) Kiltealy Parish.  Mass at 3 pm.  (ii) Piercestown Parish.  Mass at 8 pm.

Sunday, September 2nd - Pro-Life Pilgrimage.  Mass at 3 pm.

Thursday, September 6th - St Vincent de Paul, Dublin.  Mass at 3 pm.

Sunday, September 9th - Closing of Pilgrimage.  Mass at 7 pm.

All the above dates have been cofirmed and in the time ahead the booking of additional groups will, of course, be accepted.

Pilgrims move quietly round the Island, either in organised groups or individually, reciting the Rosary. Ideally, a pilgrim carries out this exercise nine times during the season - some try to do all nine on the same day.

• The pilgrim begins with a visit to the Parish Church

• The pilgrim now walks along the causeway to the Shrine at the entrance to the Island and prays there for a few moments.

• Next the pilgrim follows the path to the left of the Island.

• The Rosary with its fifteen decades (the Mysteries of Light are optional) is recited as the pilgrim walks around the Island.

• A stop is made at the Shrine at the head of the Island, which is at the halfway point, for another quiet prayer.

• The pilgrim continues the Rosary and walks back to the Shrine at the entrance to the Island.
  A final prayer of penance is said in the Church.
